It's been announced that Volker Schloendorff's feature, Return To Montauk, will screen in Competition at the 67th International Berlin Film Festival in what will also be the world premiere for the film.
Featuring music by Max Richter, Return To Montauk marks the first original screenplay from Irish author Colm Toibin. The film centres on writer Max Zorn (played by Stellan Skarsgard), who comes to New York for the release of his book. His young wife Clara (Susanne Wolff) goes ahead to work on the U.S. release.
In his novel, Max writes about the failure of love in New York 17 years ago. Almost by chance he meets Rebecca (Nina Hoss), now a successful lawyer, originally from Germany but living in New York for 20 years. They decide to spend a weekend together in Montauk...
The film is a Germany-France-Ireland co-production.
The Irish co-producers are Conor Barry and John Keville of Savage Productions in association with Mike Downey and Sam Taylor at Film & Music Entertainment (IRE) Ltd.
Sync Music is attached as Music Supervisor.
