Gabriel Currington is a composer who has worked on a diversity of projects that
range from music for films, theatre, television, radio and live performance.
He has brought his talent to several feature-length film productions including Splinter (Paul Barber, Joe McGann) Rulers & Dealers (Freema Agyeman) The Celestine Prophecy, the portuguese film Julgamento and the Scottish BAFTA award-winning Running In Traffic (Kenneth Cranham, Atta Yaqub).
He also scored First Light for the BBC, a drama about the youngest ever Spitfire pilot in World War Two with Sam Heughan (Young Alexander the Great) and Gary Lewis (Merlin, Eragon, Billy Elliot).
Although specializing in film, Gabriel has an active collaboration with many productions for television and other areas. This includes writing and arranging the music for a Vivienne Westwood’s Gold Collection Fashion Show which incorporated a live orchestra a beatboxer, guitarists, percussion, and rappers and Days of a Thousand Years for large orchestra which was broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
Other dramas and award-winning and nominated projects include BAFTA nominated Toy Soldiers for the BBC and Don’t Make Me Angry for Channel 4, The Most Evil Men in History series for Channel 5, 100th Second which won Best Film at the Manhattan Film Festival, Mexican film, Light Feet, a Raramuri Tale and Toby’s Odyssey – all of which have won awards.
Other TV series include Sofa Surfers and Karate Kids for the BBC and CBBC channels, Tarsier Tails (nominated at Jackson Hole), a 24 episode Natural History series for C5 and BBC Worldwide, Snow Leopards of Leafy London, a seven part series for Animal Planet and Inside Broadmoor a two part series for C5.
Upcoming Projects include Saving the Earth’s Oceans – a benefit concert in aid of protecting the Marine Environment where Gabriel is Musical Director and will be working with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, writing music for the concert and arranging for several of the artists.
He will also be scoring the indie feature Lapse of Honour starring Lady Leshurr and Chasing Witches and a 12x1hr documentary series for TV broadcast in 2015.
