Burning Codes is the solo project of Irish, Belfast born singer and songwriter Paul Archer. Paul also contributed vocals to five tracks on Snow Patrol’s ‘Eyes Open’. The projectincludes various sonic collaborators including Iain Archer: Solo Artist, Snow Patrol, Reindeer Section, and Ivor Novello winner, and Stuart Sweeney: Sonic composer and loop guru.
Burning Codes music concerns our own unique messages, the codes which are truly ours, understood and owned by each of us uniquely. The music is birthed from our moments and what we do with these moments, how we see, feel, react, encode and decipher the inner messages and the outer manifestations of what we feel, think and do. So, in some way the aim is to try to ’seize the moment/s’ and, as much as possible, create right there and then, just to see what happens when we abandon our conventions and let things flow.
Burning Codes has received Radio One airplay via Zane Lowe’s Evening session, BBC 6 Music and BBC NI’s Across The Line plus various local stations nationally as well as independent radio stations in the U.S.Recent gigs have seen Burning Codes supporting and playing with the likes of Gary Lightbody and Lisa Hannigan, Elbow, Duke Special and many others.
’The Worthy Cause’ EP was released May 2008 on new, fresh and innovative Belfast label Only Gone Records and was a featured release on iTunes in it’s first week of release. The new eponymously titled long player was released 19 October 2008 (for album reviews and press see sites below).
